Below, in alphabetical order, are brief profiles of the TCCUG officers and board members for the year 2005.
President
Daniel Barrett
Dan has been into computers for more than 20 years. He has also
been a member of TCCUG for 7 years and has been nominated for
the office of President. Dan served his country in the Marines
for 5 years and retired from the New York State Troopers, with
20 years of service, to become an investigator for a NYC Law
firm. He volunteers and coaches Computer at the Blake Library.
He hopes to be able to continue with his volunteer work, as he
enjoys interacting with people.
Corporate Secretary
Robert Spencer
‘ Spence’ comes to us from a. consulting firm. He has served TCCUG
as a member for more than 13 years and in many other ways, including Past President,
Long Range Planning Committee, and Director. He currently works as a clergyman,
hospital chaplain, mediator, behavior consultant, and a writing teacher. He still
finds time to volunteer with Council for the Aging and Healthy Start, among others.
He uses his computer mainly for word processing.
Treasurer
Jackie Butts
Jackie has been doing computer work for more than 15 years and
is currently TCCUG’s
Treasurer. She graduated from The University of Nebraska with a BS in education.
She currently is a realtor working out of a local real estate office in Port
St. Lucie. She is also a member of TCCUG’s nominating committee, and presently
arranges for the speakers for our monthly meetings. In addition to all of her
commitments to TCCUG, she finds time to work at the Republican Party Club of
St. Lucie County, Port St. Lucie Yacht Club, St. Lucie County United Way, and
a number of other very worthy organizations.
Secretary
Letcher Bennett, Jr.
‘ Letch’ has a mechanical engineering background. He has used his
computer skills for 20 years or so in conjunction with his former occupation.
He also has been a member of TCCUG for about 3 years and is enjoying his retirement
with photography, sailing, chess, bowling and Duplicate Bridge. He, too, wishes
to be able to give something back through “people helping people”.
Joe Arbeit
Joe has been a member of the Club for a couple of years now and feels he can
contribute something for the general good of all of the membership. He still
remains a member of the working world as a flight instructor. He’s
been into personal computers for over 10 years and is looking forward to
serving as a Director of TCCUG.
Donald Bart
Don has also been into computers for more than 20 years. Keeping
up with all the new technology coming out almost daily, keeps
him busy as all get out, (he claims!) Don is presently a Director
of TCCUG and serves as our “Official Photographer”.
Don came from outside construction in the Mid-West and joined
TCCUG in 1987. He teaches a number of SIGs at the Sandpiper location
and is always eager to help anyone that asks.
He wants to help people.
Wayne Coryell
Wayne also served in the Marines. He has been into computers for
over eleven years and is a nine-year member of TCCUG. He presently
leads the Windows 95/98/Me SIG and is always ready, willing and
able to help anyone who asks. Wayne is proficient in all phases
of computing, including photo editing. He has served on the Board
of Directors for more than 6 years.
Richard Jones
Richard is new to TCCUG and already has been appointed Membership
Chairman and ‘keeper’ of the club’s database.
Coming from the telecommunications field up north, he brings
years of experience in telecom software and associated computer
skills, which all will find most helpful. He enjoys photo printing,
editing photos, and digital photography along with Internet browsing.
Gerald Nasi
Jerry is presently a SIG leader in Genealogy for Beginners at our
Sand piper facility.
Jerry has been ill and was unable to complete his Biography for
this issue. He promises that he’ll have it for the next issue.
Joseph Regan
Joe comes from New England. He has been active in TCCUG as a Director
for the past two years. Joe retired as a civil engineer and now
enjoys donating his time to the Marine Patrol of the Port St.
Lucie Police Department. He is especially interested in photo
editing and has attended SIGs and learned a lot from them. He
also wishes to be of assistance of any that ask him about photo
editing, etc.
Jack Rothermel
Jack has been a member of TCCUG for four years, coming from Consolidated
Edison of NY. After spending 37 years doing almost every job,
he retired to live in Key Largo. Growing ‘tired’ of
the Key pace, He and his wife, Vivian, chose the Treasure Coast
to live. Not happy to sit back and relax, Jack has served TCCUG
as a director and chairman of the Nominating Committee. He also
has served in neighborhood activities with the newcomers club
of the YMCA, and the Fourth Marine Division Association (WWII
Vets) as President of the Florida Chapter.
John Scesny
John has been into PCs for 5 or more years after spending about
15 years using an industrial computer to operate mechanical
equipment. Like most of the balance of Directors, John is retired.
He worked
for the Dept. of Energy at one of their national laboratories
for almost 40 years. He enjoys photo printing as well as keeping
up with his hobby, model railroading. As some of the others
have said, John feels that if everyone contibutes something,
all will
get benefit.
Donna Williams
Donna has been a member for over 7 years and has been using computers
for over 20 years. She has been Recording Secretary for the Board
of Directors for two years. She comes to us from the Mid-Atlantic
region where she worked in real estate, and in office management
with a major chemical company. In addition to her duties for
TCCUG, she works with her Homeowners Association and Port St.
Lucie Lions Club. Donna feels that she would like to contribute
back to TCCUG some of what she has derived from her membership,
firmly believing in “people helping people”.
