Explorer Icon Tip

Wilbur Rau's Explorer Icon Tip

/n,/e,C:\

Copy and then paste the Windows Explorer shortcut icon onto your desktop. Then right click it to find the properties selection at the bottom of the resulting menu. Left click on "properties" to see the resulting shortcut menu. Find the "Target" entry box and append the above characters to the phrase containing "explorer.exe"

The result is a direct link to your C:\ directory. If you change the "C:\" argument to any valid path on your computer, then you have a direct link to that directory. To Cool.

Shown below is a before and after shot of the routine to create a desktop icon that will open Windows Explorer directly to any drive or directory on your computer. The first illustration would open Windows Explorer into the default directory (My Documents). If you want more control of your files, the second illustration opens Windows Explorer into the directory "3wFlash" on the drive "F:\".

Changing the "F:\3wFlash" to any other valid drive or directory path would take you to that drive/directory. This tip is a real time saver and worth implementing.
